BENTEKE SIGNS NEW DEAL WITH ASTON VILLA

Done deal: Christian Benteke signs a contract extension for Aston Villa

Christian Benteke did a massive U-turn last night to pen a new contract at Aston Villa.
Belgium international striker Benteke, 22, withdrew his transfer request and signed a new four-year deal at Villa Park .
He had hoped to move to Spurs but the Londoners baulked at Villa's £25million price tag.
Benteke's change of heart is a massive boost to boss Paul Lambert, who was desperate to keep the striker after his 23-goal haul last term.
The promise of regular football ahead of the World Cup and continuity with Villa helped convinced Benteke.
His pay will now rocket from the £20,000-a-week he was on after joining last summer from Genk for just £8m.
He will not be involved in Villa's pre-season friendly at Wycombe today. But the star has returned to training at the club after missing the pre-season tour to Germany.
