Nigerian top footballer, Mikel Obi has been duped. Mikel Obi was duped by a close friend after he was shown a property to buy. The footballer after inspecting the property was satisfied with it and gave his friend a check of N100m to purchase it. It was said that, his friend disappeared into thin air after he cleared the money and till today Mikel is yet to hear from him or see him. A source who confirmed the story said, Mikel still finds it difficult to believe, they were very close the source said. The friend is no longer seen in town and his phone numbers have been unreachable. The source also said Mikel is still very much busy to come to Nigeria to report the case to the police.

Robben confident of prolonged Bayern stay

Bayern Munich winger Arjen Robben believes he will remain at the club for at least three more years.

The Netherlands international has been out of action with a knee injury since November 30 but has enjoyed a hugely successful year with the German champions.
As well as securing the league title, Robben helped Bayern to the DFB-Pokal, UEFA Champions League and the UEFA Super Cup in 2013 but was unavailable for their FIFA Club World Cup on Saturday.
His deal is set to expire in June of 2015 but Robben is confident that he will remain at the Allianz Arena for longer.
"The club knows what they have in me and I know what I have at the club," the 29-year-old told Der Sueddeutschen.
"I have a feeling that I have at least three years of top football before me - I love it here."
On the issue of a new contract, Robben confirmed that chairman Karl-Heinz Rummenigge visited him in hospital shortly after his injury to reassure him that discussions would take place.
"He has said that we will soon talk concretely about the future," Robben explained.

Michu to miss six weeks after ankle surgery

Swansea City boss Michael Laudrup has confirmed talismanic striker Michu requires ankle surgery and is expected to be out for six weeks.

The Spaniard was sent for a scan on Monday, which confirmed the need for an operation on his right ankle.

"It's not good news," said Laudrup. "Unfortunately it has been confirmed that he will need an operation.

"It can be done in the next week and he should be back playing in around a month and a half."

Sherwood now comfirmed as Spurs Head Coach

The 44-year-old, who was formerly a technical co-ordinator at White Hart Lane, had never led a top-tier outfit prior to last week following the sacking of Andre Villas-Boas.

Lamar Odom's friends are deeply concerned that he's hitting the bottle way too hard lately ... and they're worried that he's drinking to cope with a serious bout of depression..

We know ... Lamar has been boozing A LOT lately ... most recently he was spotted in AV Nightclub clutching a bottle of champagne all night long.

Odegbamiblasts Keshi for calls of Osaze, Taiwo

Retired Nigerian striker Segun Odegbam has criticised recent demands for the recall of some old-time favourites to the national team.

There have been calls for Osaze Odemwingie, Taye Taiwo and Obafemi Martins amongst others to be recalled to the Super Eagles' camp, with coach Stephen Keshi himself recently stating that the door is still open to such players.

Odegbami, however, feels the idea is misguided as the African champions prepare to make an impact at next year's World Cup in Brazil.

"They have had their time and they served us very well," Vanguard quotes Odegbami to have said.

"They should forget the national team and allow those who won the Nations Cup and qualified us for the World Cup go to Brazil.

"They should go and have their deserved rest."

Chimamanda Adichie has continued to have a stellar year as her latest effort, 'Americanah' has been named BBC's top book in 2013.

The novel which was released in May this year has continued to garner much praise and was also selected as one of the 10 Best Books of 2013 by the editors of New York Times.
