RMD reacts to bad health rumour, says I'm in th best shape of my life

There have been rumours both online and on entertainment magazines that Nollywood icon and Delta State Commissioner for Culture & Tourism, Richard Mofe-Damijo, has health issues probably because of his recent weight loss. I saw him a while back and he looked more handsome than ever!

Anyway, RMD has reacted to the rumours, saying he's better than ever.

"What else do you need? You saw me on stage, did I look sick? People are probably so disappointed to see me looking so much better they want the news to be true. Unfortunately for them, I am in the best shape of my life.
"Have you not taken photos of me. It amazes me how people cling to bad news. I am a public servant in Delta State, I go to work every day. I am not sick. I changed my lifestyle and lost weight and I am looking better than I have ever looked in my adult life. For the records, I am not on Facebook and my colleagues that they used their names as those who posted the stories have all denied it.”RMD told Weekend Groove Left is RMD at Amaka Igwe's Tribute night on Monday and right is RMD at the Delta Entertainment Awards in Asaba two days ago where he received a Lifetime Achievement Award.

When the media started talking about Calvin's secret trysts, the Scottish DJ decided to come clean and let the world know he's a single man again...only he forgot to let Rita in on it.

Ask your Governor how they spend their monthly allocation, leave Jonathan alone- Okonji Iweala

The Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, yesterday, tasked Nigerians to challenge their governors to account for the monthly budgetary allocation they get from the federation account, noting that most of the lapses in basic public services are caused by state governments. According to her, she wondered why citizens always blame the administration of President Goodluck Jonathan for the failings of some state governments who get monthly allocation larger than countries like Liberia, Gambia and the Republic of Benin. Okonjo-Iweala spoke yesterday at the 12th convocation of Babcock University, BU, Ilishan Remo, where over 1,500 students graduated. She urged Nigerians to begin to demand improved standards of living from their state governments, rather than accusing the Federal Government of insensitivity all the time. “The administration of President Goodluck Jonathan alone cannot transform the country. We need the private sector to work with us and we are optimistic of their immense collaboration in the transformation agenda. “But in addition, the question all Nigerians must ask is ‘what is the role of state and local governments in supporting our transformation?’. “We know in the constitution that provision for public services such as health, education and agriculture falls on the concurrent list and so it is the joint responsibility of federal, state and local governments. “However, it is not often that we hear people asking what their state governments have done? A lot of attention tends to be on the Federal Government. But we have to ask what do our state and local governments do with the resources they get. “The states are getting the money that is available to be shared each month, and we publish that in the newspapers every month so that people can know what the federal, state and local governments receive. “We need to ask more questions because poverty eradication and building of infrastructure is not for the Federal Government alone,” she explained. The minister stated that in 2013 alone, states like Akwa Ibom, Rivers, Delta, Bayelsa, Lagos, Kano, Katsina, Oyo, Kaduna and Borno got the highest allocation from the federation account, and that what they got individually is more than the annual budgetary allocation of neighbouring countries such as Liberia, Gambia and Republic of Benin. “Akwa Ibom got N260 billion; Rivers, N230 billion; Delta, N209 billion; Bayelsa, N173 billion; Lagos, N168 billion; Kano, N140 billion; Katsina, N103 billion; Oyo N100 billion; Kaduna, N97 billion and Borno, N94 billion. “These were the allocations these states got last year. So the question is what did they do with it? “Analysis shows that many Nigerian states receive revenue allocations which are larger than budgetary allocations of neighbouring countries such as Liberia which is $433 million and Gambia, $210 million,” the Minister said. She was awarded Doctor of Science in Global Economic Development, Honoris Causa by the university

LASU Tuition: State, Students To Reach Agreement Soon

Lagos State Governor Babatunde Fashola yesterday said the state government and the students of Lagos state University; LASU would soon reach an agreeable tuition for the institution, saying “both parties have started holding talks to end the issue.” Following agitations by the students on the fees increase, the State Governor met with leaders of the students severally and agreed that the students should make their independent study and present to Government a position paper on the way forward. Fashola who disclosed this while fielding questions at a live television interactive session with media executives at the Lagos Television, Ikeja, weekend, said the seven-man Executive Council was currently studying the students’ paper to the Government on the tuition. The governor, who promised that where there was need for adjustment or amendment it would be affected accordingly , said the students had presented the paper now before the Executive Council for consideration and approval. According to him, “I have passed it out to the Council. We have told the students that we are not inflexible and where we see the need for adjustment or amendment, we will do it so that they might understand it better. From the paper presented by the student, they were not against the increase but the parameters used in calculating the fees.” The governor reiterated that the increase in tuition was one of the recommendations made by a Visitation Panel inaugurated at the instance of the students in a petition to the House of Assembly. “There were many recommendations made by the panel many of which we accepted. It is the school fees that have become so vexatious as it were. What we have done is that we looked across schools, Federal and State and private schools and tried to stay somewhere in the middle”, the Governor explained. According to him, government also decided that the new fee was not going to affect returning students, but only new intakes adding that in consideration of qualified but indigent students, Government also increased its budget for scholarships and bursaries from N700 million, to about N1.2 – N1.3 billion “in order to ensure that no child was left behind”. Jonathan’s secret negotiator: Chibok girls very ill

Some of the 219 schoolgirls still in the custody of Boko Haram insurgents have taken ill, according to a prominent Australian cleric, Dr. Stephen Davis. Davis, a   hostage negotiator, said   the online publication of a British newspaper, The Mail on Sunday, was   hired by President Goodluck Jonathan to broker the release of the girls. According to the newspaper, the clergyman who was once the Canon Emeritus at the Coventry Cathedral in London and a friend of The Archbishop of Canterbury Justin Welby,   has been in Nigeria   working secretly on the release of the girls   for almost a month now. It added that he was asked by the President to come to Nigeria after previously brokering a truce between the Federal Government and Niger Delta militants in 2004. Along with Welby, he was frequently blindfolded and held at gunpoint during his peace work in the Niger Delta. In the email, Davis   revealed he had had ‘‘ongoing contacts’’ with the groups involved in the kidnapping in the North-East for seven years. He attributed his success in hostage negotiations in Nigeria to “a long process of building trust on both sides.” The Perth-born Australian described how fraught the negotiation process had been but expressed optimism that the girls would be freed. He said, ‘One of that small group of girls is ill and we had hoped we might convince the commander of the group holding her that she should be released so we could give her medical treatment. ‘There are other girls who are not well and we have come close to having them released but their captors fear a trap in which they will be captured in the handover process. ‘One girl has what I assume is a broken wrist as they demonstrate to me how she holds her hand. I have been told that others are sick and in need of medical attention. “But I am encouraged by the progress. Every day there is the possibility of the release of the girls. ‘This is painful for the parents and the nation. The well-being of the girls is constantly on our minds and we want to see their release as soon as possible.” The secret negotiator however ruled out the possibility of a rescue since the girls were not being held in one location. He said, “There are several groups to deal with as the girls are held in several camps across the Nigerian border in Cameroon, Chad and Niger. This makes any thought of a rescue highly improbable. To attempt to rescue one group would only endanger the others. We must not endanger their lives any further. “The vast majority of the Chibok girls are not being held in Nigeria. “I say the ‘vast majority’as I know a small group was confirmed to me to be in Nigeria last week when we sought to have them released.” Explaining   that he had been to military positions in the North-East in recent days, he said, ‘the troops and their field commanders are doing all that can be done at this point.” Last week,   the Chief of Defence Staff, Alex Badeh, said the military   knew the location of the girls and claimed that security agencies had been ‘following them’ since the abduction. Badeh did not divulge details, saying doing so would put the girls in further danger. Sources said Badeh’s claim might have been the result of government officials seeing a new, unpublished video allegedly sent by the sect to President Goodluck Jonathan. The Sunday Mail also quoted a military source on Sunday as saying that with most of the girls outside the shores of Nigeria, ‘any sort of attempt to get to them would have to be cleared by the governments of the other nations.’ The source added, ‘This has been a race against time from the minute they were captured. As soon as the girls left Nigerian soil it was always going to be more difficult. ‘The government made no attempt at a rescue until a month after they were taken. Now the situation gets more serious by the day.” The Mail on Sunday also claimed   that the   new recorded video by Boko Haram showed the girls bravely speaking out about their ordeal for the first time. The footage, not released publicly but seen by the newspaper,   was taken in a jungle clearing a month after the girls were abducted on April 14. It also confirmed David’s claim that   a few of the girls were ill. In the video, eight girls, dressed in their   school uniforms of pale blue gingham, plead for release as they stand in front of a camera. The newspaper said they were clearly scared, upset and trying to be brave as they walked in turn to a spot in front of a white sheet fixed to a   frame between   trees. According to the publication, four   of the girls could be heard   in   Hausa Language, stating that they were taken by force and that they were hungry. One of them aged about 18 said tearfully, “My family will be so worried.” Another, speaking softly, said, “I never expected to suffer like this in my life.’ A third said,   ‘They have taken us away by force” and the   fourth complained that, “We are not getting enough food.” The video, allegedly taken by an intermediary on May 19, said the newspaper,   was intended to serve as ‘proof of life’ for the girls and to Jonathan to accede to the terrorists’ demands. Two earlier videos showed the girls seated on the ground, dressed in hijabs, reciting the Koran. In the videos, Boko Haram Leader, Abubakar Shekau, declared he would sell the girls into slavery or marry them off to their kidnappers if members of the sect in detention were not released. Pressure from the international community and criticism of the Jonathan’s slow response to the kidnapping had led to a series of contradictory pronouncements from his government. Some ministers have declared that government would not negotiate with Boko Haram or consider the release of prisoners, while official spokesmen   said “the window is always open for dialogue.

B’Haram bombs bar, kills 60 in Adamawa

Members of the Boko Haram Islamic sect on Sunday bombed a bar and a brothel located near a major military base in Mubi, Adamawa State and killed over 60 people. Sources told saharareporters that explosion rocked the popularly bar located at Kaban, a few kilometres to the headquarters of the Special Operations Battalion (SOB) of the Nigerian army in Mubi. It was gathered that the SOB was at the centre of the Nigerian government’s counter-offensive against Boko Haram’s increasingly daring attacks on military and civilian targets. Saharareporters reported that the blast occurred around 6pm at the brothel where both military and civilians used to unwind. The agency reported that one of its sources said none of the casualties was a soldier, but another source told saharareporters that it was too early to determine whether soldiers were among the casualties or not. Saharareporters added that soldiers based in Mubi “frequently join civilians to eat, drink and dance at the watering hole. It, however, added that military commanders had warned soldiers not to stay at the joint past 4 p.m. In recent weeks, Boko Haram has carried out deadly attacks in the northeast Nigerian states of Adamawa, Borno and Yobe despite the Federal Government’s declaration of a state of emergency in the three states. Meanwhile, security forces in Cameroon have killed about 40 Boko Haram militants in clashes in the country’s far north on Sunday. Cameroon’s state radio said this on Sunday shortly after the release of two Italian priests and a Canadian nun suspected to have been held by the Islamist group. A government   source in Yaounde was quoted by Reuters as having confirmed the clashes which took place west of the town of Kousseri, in the region bordering Nigeria and Chad. Cameroon, which had been criticised by Nigeria for not doing enough to fight the Boko Haram insurgents, deployed some 1,000 troops in the far North last week. The two Italian priests and a Canadian nun kidnapped in northern Cameroon nearly two months ago by suspected Boko Haram gunmen were released on Sunday, smiling and apparently in good health as they arrived in Yaounde, the capital. Reuters reported that Giampaolo Marta and Gianantonio Allegri, missionaries from the diocese

8 signs of a healthy Relationship

Nothing can bring more joy to life than beautifully fulfilling relationships. The depth of meaning, understanding and appreciation that these kinds of relationships bring is almost unfathomable. And, of course, as many people find out, nothing can bring so much pain as a broken relationship with someone dear to you. Yes, relationships make the world go ’round. For better or for worse. But the exciting thing is that we can do much to increase our chances of having terrific relationships—relationships that are fulfilling and exciting, rich with meaning, joy and love. There are basics that govern most human relationships and these basics are what I want to cover below. So here is my list of the eight essentials that I believe make up the basics of healthy relationships. 1. Love. Now, this all depends on your definition of love. Most people think that love is a feeling, but I would strongly debate that point. Actually, the concept of “like” is really about feelings. When you say you like someone, you are talking about how you feel. But when you say that you love someone, you are not necessarily talking about how you feel about them. Love is much deeper than a feeling. Love is a commitment we make to people to always treat that person right and honorably. Yes, for those we become especially close to, we will have feelings of love, but I believe it is time for us to re-examine what we mean by love. We must expand our definition of what love means by including the commitment aspect of love. For healthy relationships, we must love everyone. We may not like them based on how we feel about them, but we should love them based on our definition of love above which in turn determines how we should act toward them; that is, treat them right and honorably. This is the basis of all healthy relationships. 2. Serving Heart. My good friend Zig Ziglar says frequently that “you can have everything you want in life if you help enough other people get what they want out of life.” The concept he is talking about is having a heart and life that is focused on serving other people. The Bible puts it this way: consider others’ interests as more important than your own. This is also fundamental to healthy relationships. 3. Honest Communication. In any good relationship you will find open and honest communication. Communication is so important because it is the vehicle that allows us to verbalize what is inside us and enables it to connect with another person. Isn’t communication amazing? One person is feeling one thing, and through communication, another person can find that out and feel it too—amazing. And this is a vital goal in good relationships—to communicate, to tell each other what we are thinking and what we are feeling. It enables us to make a connection. Sometimes we are the one speaking and other times we are listening. Either way, the central tenet is communication for the sake of building the relationship and making it stronger. And here’s what’s exciting: If we just communicate, we can get by. But if we communicate skillfully, we can work miracles! 4. Friendliness. Put simply, relationships just work better when we are friendly with others. Being friendly can cushion the bumpy ride we sometimes experience in our relationships. Cheerfulness goes a long way toward building lasting relationships. I mean, nobody wants to be around a grump, do they? The fact is that the friendlier you are the more you are going to have people who want to pursue longer-lasting, mutually beneficial relationships with you. So cheer up, put on a smile, have kind words to say to others, treat people with a great deal of friendliness and you will see your relationships improve. 5. Patience. People being people, we have an awful lot of time for practice in the area of patience. People are not perfect and will constantly fail us. And conversely we will fail other people. So while we try to have more patience for others, we need their patience as well. So often, I think relationships break down because people give up and lose patience. I am talking about all kinds of friendships, marriages, business relationships, etc. Recent research has shown that those marriages that go through major turmoil, and then make it through, are very strong after doing so. Patience wins out. Those who give up on relationships too early, or because the other person isn’t perfect, often forget that their next friend, their next spouse or business partner will not be perfect either! So we would do well to cultivate this skill and learn to have more patience. 6. Loyalty. Loyalty is a commitment to another person. Sadly, loyalty is often a missing element in many relationships today. We have forgotten what it means to be loyal. Our consumer mentality has affected this to some degree. People are no longer loyal to a product. And unfortunately, many companies are not loyal to their clients or patrons. Regrettably, this has spilled over into our relationships. It is one thing to switch brands of dishwashing detergent. It is another thing altogether to switch friends. Sometimes we just need to commit to being loyal and let the relationship move forward. We need a higher level of stick-to-it-iveness! This kind of loyalty will take our relationships to a much deeper level. What a powerful and secure feeling of knowing that you have a relationship with someone who is loyal to you and you to them—that neither of you is going anywhere even when things get tough. Wow, how powerful! 7. A Common Purpose. One of the basics of healthy relationships is to have a common purpose, and oftentimes this is a component that is initially overlooked, but for a long-term, long-lasting relationship it is vital. Think about how many friends you have met through the years while working on a common purpose. Maybe it was someone you met while participating in sports, while working on a political campaign, attending church, at your office, or anything that brought you together to work on a common purpose. You had that strong common bond of purpose that brought you together and held you together. Working together, building together, failing and succeeding together—all while pursuing a common purpose—is what relationships are made of. Find people with whom you have common purposes and sow the seeds of great relationships, and then reap the long-lasting benefits. 8. Fun. All good relationships have some element of fun. Now, that doesn’t necessarily mean loud, raucous fun, though that is appropriate for some relationships. But even in business relationships there should be some fun. It should be fun to do business with those who you are going to have a long-term business relationship with. Fun brings enjoyment to the relationship and that is important. I think that oftentimes this key element can be easily forgotten or neglected in our family and spousal relationships. The fun things we did initially in a new relationship after a while can be taken for granted or simply fall by the wayside and we stop creating the fun and joy. So remember to consciously craft fun situations and moments, for these are the glue that hold our memories together and make our lives sweet. There are so many key ingredients to making and maintaining great, long-lasting relationships. Each of the eight components we discussed brings unique dynamics and rewards to your relationships. Let’s begin to focus on improving our relationships in these areas and see what miracles occur!
After the many Facebook posts suggesting all might not be well with the marriage of Christ Embassy Pastor, Chris Oyakhilome and his wife Pastor Anita, and few reports online, a pastor from the church denied this allegation to Punch on the phone saying it is far from the truth. According to the pastor identified as Pastor Mercy, simple said the reports are FASLE. Another member also confided in them and said; “It is not true; it is a rumour. All these things are make-up stories.” Still investigating, another member of the church however said there are issues but the Facebook reports are mere fallacies. “There are issues, yes, but the Facebook post is an absolute fallacy,” the member, who pleaded anonymity, said.

Spain Releases final 23 man squad for the worldcup

Experienced strikers Fernando Torres and David Villa were both included in Vicente del Bosque’s final 23-man World Cup squad on Saturday as he sought to cover Diego Costa’s injured hamstring. Brazil-born Atletico Madrid striker Costa has battled an ongoing hamstring problem that limited him to just nine minutes in the Champions League final defeat to city rivals Real, a week after he was forced off 15 minutes into his side’s La Liga title decider with Barcelona. Del Bosque also left strikers Jesus Navas, Alvaro Negredo and Fernando Llorente, midfielder Ander Iturraspe, and defenders Alberto Moreno and Dani Carvajal out of his squad, the six having been named in his initial 30-man list. Defending champions Spain face Chile, the Netherlands and Australia in World Cup Group B. Their first match pits them on June 13 against the Netherlands — their opponents in their 2010 World Cup final triumph. Squad Goalkeepers: Iker Casillas (Real Madrid), Jose Manuel Reina (Napoli/ITA), David De Gea (Manchester United/ENG) Defenders: Sergio Ramos (Barcelona), Gerard Pique (Barcelona), Jordi Alba (Barcelona), Javi Martinez (Bayern Munich/GER), Cesar Azpilicueta (Chelsea/ENG), Raul Albiol (Napoli/ITA), Juanfran Torres (Atletico Madrid) Midfielders: Xavi Hernandez (Barcelona), Sergio Busquets (Barcelona), Andres Iniesta (Barcelona), Cesc Fabregas (Barcelona), Xabi Alonso (Real Madrid), David Silva (Manchester City/ENG), Koke Resurreccion (Atletico Madrid), Santiago Cazorla (Arsenal/ENG), Juan Mata (Manchester United/ENG) Forwards: Pedro Rodriguez (Barcelona), Diego Costa (Atletico Madrid), David Villa (Atletico Madrid), Fernando Torres (Chelsea/ENG)

Qatari paid millions for World Cup bid support

A British newspaper alleged on Sunday that a former top Qatari football official paid $5 million to get support for the emirate’s campaign to host the 2022 World Cup. The Sunday Times said it had obtained millions of emails and other documents relating to alleged payments made by Mohamed Bin Hammam, the then FIFA executive member for Qatar. It alleged that Bin Hammam, who is also the ex-Asian Football Confederation (AFC) president, used slush funds to pay out the cash to top football officials to win a “groundswell” of support for Qatar’s World Cup bid. Bin Hammam, who launched an abortive challenge against incumbent FIFA president Sepp Blatter, resigned from his FIFA and AFC posts in 2012, shortly before he was banned for life from football administration by the global governing body’s ethics committee. The newspaper said Bin Hammam had made payments of up to $200,000 into accounts controlled by the presidents of 30 African football associations, and hosted hospitality events in Africa at which he handed out further funds, to get backing for Qatar’s bid. Bin Hammam also paid $1.6 million into bank accounts controlled by Jack Warner, the former vice-president of FIFA, $450,000 of which was before the vote for the World Cup, the Sunday Times said. Warner was one of the 22 people who in 2010 decided to award Russia the 2018 World Cup and Qatar the 2022 tournament. He stood down in 2011. The latest allegations come two months after Britain’s Daily Telegraph newspaper alleged that a company owned by Hammam had paid money to Warner. Bin Hammam did not respond to questions from the Sunday Times and his son declined to comment on his behalf, the newspaper said. It quoted the Qatari committee behind the World Cup bid as denying that Bin Hammam played any secret role in their campaign, or had any knowledge of the alleged payments. The decision to give the World Cup to Qatar, a country with little football history, provoked widespread condemnation particularly over health concerns for leading players forced to play in the desert nation’s stifling summer heat. Blatter said in May that it was a mistake to choose Qatar to host the 2022 World Cup because of the country’s sweltering summertime climate.

Pele's Son sentenced to Prison for drug Trafficking

A Brazilian court has sentenced football legend Pele’s son Edinho to 33 years in prison for laundering money for drug traffickers, media reports said Saturday. Edson Cholbi Nascimento, nicknamed Edinho, denies the charges in the case, which dates from 2005, and will be allowed to remain free pending appeal, said CBN radio and news site G1. The Praia Grande criminal court in Sao Paulo also sentenced three other defendants to 33 years and ordered the confiscation of all property seized in the police operation against them, including about 100 cars. Edinho, 43, is accused of ties with a drug cartel led by Ronaldo “Naldinho” Duarte Barsotti.

Riccardo Montolivo of Italy out of worldcup

Italy international Riccardo Montolivo is out of the World Cup after being stretchered off after just eight minutes in the friendly clash with Republic of Ireland on Saturday. The AC Milan captain went down after challenging for the ball with Alex Pearce and required several minutes of treatment on the pitch before being replaced by Alberto Aquilani. Italy team doctor Enrico Castellaci confirmed after the match that Montolivo has suffered a broken leg and will be unable to travel to the finals next month. "Montolivo has a fracture on his tibia, he probably will need an operation. He can't go to Brazil with us," he said. The 29-year-old was involved from the start in something of an experimental line-up from coach Cesare Prandelli, but took a hit to his ankle after just eight minutes at Craven Cottage following Pearce's challenge. Italy players looking on appeared concerned over the midfielder's injury and medical staff were quick to attend to him on the pitch before ultimately carrying him off on a stretcher. Montolivo made seven appearances for the Azzurri during their World Cup qualifying campaign and was likely to be an important figure for Prandelli as one of the more experienced players in the camp. Italy - who drew 0-0 on the night with Ireland - face England in their World Cup opener in just two weeks.

16-Year Old Boy Murders Parents Because They Seized His IPhone

16 year old Vincent Parker pleaded guilty yesterday to murdering his parents Carol and Wayne Parker last December. The boy says that there was no specific fight that prompted the brutal MURDER. The sadistic killer told authorities, 'I just remember getting mad,' Parker told the court. 'It's all from my dad. All this stuff like my dad taking away my iPod and stuff.' The story gets worse. Vincent was an only child being raised by his hard working parents Carol, 57, and father Wayne, 55, in their Norfolk, Virginia home. They did everything right - they lived in a good neighborhood, and helped Vincent become an honor roll student. But he boy snapped one day . . . and turned into a moster. On December 19, 2013 Vincent left school early while his dad was still at work. He showed up at the family home and surprised his mother - by dousing her in pepper spray. While the 57 year old woman was blinded and unable to defend herself, Vincent stabbed his mother in the eye, and then beat her with a crowbar and metal baseball bat 'until she stopped breathing'. A medical examiner noted 25 separate smashes and stabs on Mrs Parker's neck, face and head. The animal then waited patiently over his dead mother's body until his father came in the house. He surprised his dad and hit him in the back of the head with a crowbar, smashing his skull. He then stabbed his father multiple times. Luckily his father didn't die from the mortal wounds. He managed to call 9-1-1 and tell them what happened. When the ambulance arrived Carol had already died. Wayne survived a short time but died in the hospital. Yesterday Vincent plead guilty to two counts of second degree murder. A psychological evaluation found him to be both 100% sane and intelligent. He was charged as an adult and will be sentenced in September. Culled from Mediatakeout

Professors, perm secs to earn full salaries as pension

Pension stipends received by professors and permanent secretaries will be augmented by the Federal Government when the new Pension Reform Act is eventually passed into law, investigation has revealed. This development will enable them to continue to earn their full salaries in retirement even when they don’t have enough funds in their Retirement Savings Accounts, unlike other retirees under the Contributory Pension Scheme. The National Pension Commission had told the Senate Committee on Establishment and Public Service and the House of Representatives Committee on Pension that some categories of workers were unable to get sufficient pension stipends as provided by the law. These include top public servants like permanent secretaries, police officers, professors and others whose conditions of service prior to the enactment of the Pension Reform Act, 2004 allowed them to enjoy 100 per cent of their final pay as pension for life. PenCom recommended to the Senate that the Federal Government should establish a severance package for them in addition to their retirement benefits under the CPS. The memorandum submitted by PenCom to the Senate Committee on Pensions on the bill to repeal the PRA 2004 and enact the Pension Reform Act, 2013 made provisions for adjustments. The Acting-Director General, PenCom, Mrs. Chinelo Anohu-Amazu, noted that Section 5(1) of the PRA 2013 included under the list of persons exempted from the scheme, professors covered by the Universities (Miscellaneous Provisions) Amendment Act, 2012 and categories of employees entitled by virtue of their terms and conditions of service to retire with full retirement benefits. According to her, this is not the intention of the amendment. “These two categories of persons are not meant to be exempted from the Contributory Pension Scheme. Rather, they will continue to be under the CPS but will, upon retirement, get their full retirement benefits,” she said. PenCom recommended that this should be rectified to reflect the true intention of the amendment. The amended bill has passed through the necessary readings and is being harmonised prior to being passed into law by legislature and assented to by the President. However, not all professors may enjoy this privilege because its implementation may be limited to those who became professors at least 20 years before retirement. While the PRA requires that they should continue to contribute part of their monthly emolument into their RSAs, their pension benefits will not be dependent on the level of their contributions because the Federal Government will cover whatever shortage may occur. The payment of retirement benefits under Section 4(1) (c) of the PRA 2004 allows for a lump sum payment to a retiree, provided that the amount left after the lump sum withdrawal will be sufficient to fund a programmed withdrawal over an expected life span or annuity for life, of not less than 50 per cent of his annual remuneration as of the date of retirement. This therefore makes the monthly pension withdrawals to be a first charge on the RSA balance, while the residual, after providing for the monthly withdrawals, will be paid as lump sum.

Convicted Kabiru Sokoto Asks for Pardon

Convicted Boko Haram member, Kabiru Umar (aka Kabiru Sokoto), has appealed to President Goodluck Jonathan for pardon, promising to assist the government in its efforts to end the activities of the now outlawed sect.

Umar was convicted of a two-count charge on terrorism by a Federal High Court in Abuja on December 20 last year and sentenced to life imprisonment.

The court found him guilty of facilitating the commission of terrorism acts and concealing information from security agencies on the December 25, 2011 bombing of St Theresa’s Catholic Church, Madala, Niger State.

In a letter to the president, written on his behalf by his lawyer, Sheriff Okoh, Umar said he was innocent of the offences for which he was convicted.

He also faulted the process leading to his conviction and has also appealed the high court judgment before the Court of Appeal, Abuja.

The letter to the president reads: “Your Excellency Sir, an innocent man was convicted by the court on the date aforementioned.

“It is for this singular reason that we are applying to you for presidential pardon in the circumstances, pursuant to your exclusive legitimate constitutional powers as enshrined in your golden conscience and under Section 175(a) and (b) of the Constitution.

“Your Excellency Sir, we are applying for respite and pardon for the convicted felon Kabiru Umar (alias Kabiru Sokoto) because we have absolute faith in your compassion and highest sense of fairness, equity and justice first as a God-fearing man and next, as the leader of the most compassionate nation on earth.

“Had Kabiru Sokoto been sentenced in an open court for the corporate acts of Boko Haram as a terrorist organsiation, we would not have spared a thought to make this application, but he was sentenced alone for acts committed by other members of Boko Haram (an organisation that was only proscribed after his arrest, detention and the making of his no-case submission before the Federal High Court, Abuja division.)

“Your Excellency, we vow to reach out beyond the imagination and work with you in resolving the Boko Haram imbroglio, with the firm belief that no quarrel of brotherhood is eternal. We shall undertake this national task for the pleasure of God almighty, believing in His divine will for our peaceful, united, symbiotic and mutual coexistence as brothers and sisters under a fair and just leader.

“We most honestly and sincerely urge you to exercise your prerogative of mercy and grant pardon or respite in this matter in the interest of justice. The law permits you to right each and every wrong in Nigeria, including those of the courts and this is one good situation where such powers under Section 175 of our grund norm serve the collective interest of our beloved nation towards peace and harmony.”
In his appeal, he claimed that he was wrongly convicted and urged the appellate court to set his conviction aside.

Sokoto had raised five grounds of appeal, including arguing that the trial judge erred in law when he resolved all the doubts, with respect to improper investigation of the case, in favour of the prosecution, a decision he said occasioned a miscarriage of justice.

Onazi Escapes bomb blast in Jos

Ogenyi Onazi says he feels fortunate to be alive after he narrowly avoided last week’s bombings in the city of Jos.

The blasts at a crowded bus terminal and market killed at least 118 people.

Onazi, 21, who was born in Jos, had just left the popular Jos Main Market last Tuesday, when the first blast rocked the area.

The midfielder, who plays for Italian Serie A side Lazio, said: “I am very, very lucky, just by the grace of God.”

Onazi is now with the Super Eagles squad in London as they prepare for today’s friendly against Scotland and he says he has been struggling to erase the memories of that dark day.

Recounting his lucky escape, he told BBC Sport: “It was just like an ordinary day. Happy faces and friendly warmth that makes you feel happy to be back home.

“We had gone to the railway market to get something. I think it was 15 minutes later when we heard the loud blast from the place. And suddenly, people were just running.

“There was chaos and pandemonium. There was smoke, I was confused, lost and just wondered what had happened. I had no idea what was going on and it was scary.

“All my life I have never heard a bang or boom like that.”

The second blast killed some of the rescue workers who had rushed to the scene, which was obscured by billows of black smoke.

A week later, far away from the city where his parents are based and preparing for his first World Cup with the Super Eagles, Onazi insists the unrest back home has made it difficult to focus on football.

“Some will say I should be happy to be alive but I just feel concerned about the security challenges in Jos and Nigeria as a country,” he said.

“I was born and bred in a peaceful Jos. I may be fortunate enough to live outside the place right now, but I still have my family and friends who live in the city.

“I always get worried when there are reports of terrible incidents there on a regular basis. It’s sad and depressing to live with this.

“Personally, I think there is a need for a holistic approach to solving this problem once and for all.

“Innocent people are dying and the government seriously needs to step up security across the country.”

Another blast happened in Jos days after that incident, in an explosion that targeted football fans watching the European Champions League final, the authorities said.

At least three people died and three others were injured in the blast, according to Chris Olakpe, the commissioner of police for Plateau state.

Holland's Van der Vaart misses World Cup

.

Netherlands star Rafael van der Vaart has been ruled out of the World Cup after suffering a calf injury.

The Hamburg midfielder had been named in Louis van Gaal's 30-man preliminary squad but will not make the final 23 after suffering a setback during training in Portugal on Tuesday.

A statement on the KNVB website read: "Rafael van der Vaart will miss the World Cup in Brazil. The Oranje international has strained a calf muscle in his right leg and coach Louis van Gaal has therefore decided not to include him in his final selection."

Van der Vaart, who has won 109 caps for his country, was a key part of the Netherlands side that finished as runners-up to Spain in the last World Cup but has had to contend with fitness troubles and a loss of form in recent months as Hamburg battled to avoid relegation from the Bundesliga.

Before suffering this latest injury setback, he had told Dutch newspaper De Telegraafthat he had endured "the worst six months of my entire career" but had been confident of being at his best for this summer's tournament.

"I will train hard, give it my all and try to become 100 percent fit to rediscover the form I was showing before the winter break," he had said.

Van Gaal had also suggested he would be involved despite his recent fitness troubles, saying: "If I feel that a non-fit player will give me more than one who is at peak fitness, I will take the non-fit player, because I still have the opportunity to get him fit."

The Netherlands, who are already without Roma midfielder Kevin Strootman, face Spain, Chile and Australia in Group B this summer.

Increment Of Fees: OAU Student Writes Open Letter To VC

Like most students, I have always admired you. From the very first day I saw and heard you speak, I have since then even until now reserved for you good judgements contrary to the very bad ones spreading like wildfire. As much as I would have loved to sound obscene in this piece of mine, I choose to maintain some decorum instead, as this is very much required at this point in time. Cutting all craps and going straight to the point, avoiding every form of side attractions and putting on hold every form of sentiments I might have had and may still have for you, I consider it sad, absurd and utterly inadequate the reasons you gave as regard the outrageous and unfair increment in the school fees, save some few.

Just to let you know sir, I am writing this letter based on what is known, obvious and crystal clear from reliable and confirmed sources – such as the press, distinguished members of the student’s union and their likes. I have been disappointed so far on how you have not been able to sustain at least a particular reason for your action. The reasons so far have become chameleonic in nature, changing with seasons and interviews that suites its purpose. First it was that our fees are ridiculous because of how cheap they were, then onto the university being underfunded; the most recent reason, the one blaming the increment on the high inflation rate didn’t even make any attempt to drive the nail in. Please sir, kindly make up your mind and carry us along with the real motive(s) behind the sudden increment in the school fees. The next set of reason(s) I await, as I am sure can be reasoned out if weighed properly.

I am not against an increment in school fees, as long as it is proper, rational and realistic. The absurdness and percentage of the increase is nothing to write home about. The heat of whatever the management is facing should not and cannot be taken out on innocent students who fought their way through the tough admission process. That is why it is called a federal university dutifully under a federal ministry of education. I believe strongly that anything whatsoever pertaining to the running and management of the university should be taken out on the ministry, not on the students who can barely afford a credible accommodation, one of human basic needs, in an academic year.

I plead that you listen to the likes of Senator Omisore, The Ooni of Ife and other influential personnel, who have strongly condemned and advice against this increment. The poor deserves quality education too. With this unjust increment in school fees, you’ll only add to the number of dropouts some of whom are trying to fight their way back into the higher institution. Education is for the masses and the unfair decision you spearheaded and suddenly made known to us few weeks to the start of a new session must not deprive those who are ready to get educated the chance to.

The students are not ready to back down from the current struggle. Those who can afford it and those who can’t – we are all in this together. It is important you realize that not all student have Samsung galaxy tabs like you said, those fancy cars you see on campus are few in number compared to the population of the students. We cannot because of the luxury of a few conclude or make decisions that affects the generality of the population, most of whom who live from “hand to mouth.” Everything just seems wrong and awkward– the fees, the timing, the reasons and so on. Need I remind you, the LASU struggle is still on and getting out of hand – I don’t pray same in our case!

Therefore, I beseech you sir to restructure, re-plan, re-strategize and reorganize whatever it is you can lay hands on to ensure a fair and just academic year. If the fees were this high during your undergraduate days, Nigeria will not be where it is today as many prospects will be on the street jobless now. Most of our Great Ife alumni, who indeed have the ability to head a family and run a home, have the affordability and professionalism of the university to thank. Great Ife is indeed great; a lot of things contribute to this greatness, the most spectacular being that the child of a common man can get the same or even better education the rich claims to be chasing as a result of them looking down on us. Please maintain our greatness and don’t take OAU away from us. Great Ife lives on!

Thank you.

Pregnant Pakistani woman stoned to death by family members

Relatives of a pregnant woman beat her to death with bricks near a court building in eastern Pakistan after she married a man against their will, authorities said.

Farzana Parveen, 25, was attacked Tuesday close to the high court in Lahore by a group of about 20 people, including her brothers, father and cousin, police said.

One family member made a noose of rough cloth around her neck while her brothers smashed bricks into her skull, said Mushtaq Ahmed, a police official, citing the preliminary report into the killing. She was three months pregnant, he said.

What had Parveen, who came from a village in Punjab, done to provoke such a brutal attack?

Police officials said she had refused to wed the cousin whom her family had selected for her, choosing instead to elope with a widower named Mohammad Iqbal.

The cousin her family wanted her to marry was among the people who attacked her, police said.

The family had challenged her marriage to Iqbal in the courts, accusing him of abducting her. The attack took place as Parveen was on her way from her lawyer’s office headed to the high court in Lahore, where she was expected to make a declaration that she had married Iqbal of her own volition.

So-called honor killings often originate from tribal traditions in Pakistan, but are not a part of Islam. Although they’re common in rural areas, Tuesday’s attack in a public area of a big city was unusual.

One of Pakistan’s leading newspapers, The Nation, expressed outrage over Parveen’s killing .

“The familiar brand of barbaric ‘justice’ yet again triumphs over the written law of the land,” it said in an editorial Wednesday. “Another case is settled outside the courts. Another woman, in search of justice, stoned to death, in the name of honor.”

According to a report published in April by the Human Rights Commission of Pakistan, 869 women were the victims of honor killings last year.

But Farzana Bari, a human rights activist based in Islamabad, said the real number may be far higher since many families don’t report the crimes.

She said that in many cases, people outside the family don’t step in to protect the victim.

“I’ve seen in the past people stand around and watch, and don’t intervene because it is a private matter,” she told CNN on Wednesday.

And the killers often avoid prosecution.

Under an Islamic element of Pakistani law, known as the law of Diyat, the family of a victim is allowed to forgive the perpetrator, according to the human rights commission’s report.

“Thus the victim’s family usually is related to the perpetrator as well, and conveniently forgives their kin, absolving them of the murder,” the report said. That possibility of impunity has “continued to encourage others to follow suit,” it said.

Police said they had arrested Parveen’s father, whose name they gave only as Azeem. They said he had admitted to the killing and expressed no regret.

National Conference delegates vote to tax churches, mosques

Delegates at the ongoing National Conference yesterday May 27th voted unanimously for churches & mosques to pay taxes. The delegates arrived at the decision after deliberating on recommendations made by the Committee on Religion.

A delegate representing Civil Organizations, Mallam Naseer Kura, during the deliberation observed that most religious leaders in Nigeria are now making a lot of money from their organizations and so should be taxed accordingly.

Supporting his arguement, Isaac Ighure a delegate representing the Nigeria Guild of Editors, in his submission said most religious leaders had so much money now to buy jets while their followers are living in abject poverty and asked that they should be made to pay taxes. "Some people buy private jets when people in their churches are suffering and living in abject poverty, they should be made to pay taxes,” he said.

The recommendations to pay tax will be submitted to the National Assembly at the end of the conference and if accepted by the National Assembly, it would then be passed into law. Who agrees that religious organizations should pay tax?

ASUP/COEASU strike: Commission kicks against payment of arrears

Nyesom Wike

The Federal Government on Tuesday alleged that the Salaries, Wages and Income Commission was opposed to the payment of arrears owed striking lecturers of Federal Polytechnics and Colleges of Education.

The Supervising Minister of Education, Nyisome Wike made the allegation at a meeting with the House of Representatives Committee on Education in Abuja.

The Academic Staff Union of Polytechnics (ASUP) and the Colleges of Education Academic Staff Union (COEASU) have been on strike for about 10 months.

Wike said “as the ministry made proposal to settle the lecturers’ arrears owed since 2009 in instalments, the commission wrote to kick against the plan.

“Government has been meeting on what to do, but the commission opposes the proposal I made to pay the arrears in installment.”

Wike said the commission was opposed to the proposal claiming that it was not consulted before the 2009 CONTISSS agreement was reached.

According to him, the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Sen. Anyim Pius Anyim has invited those involved to a meeting with a view to resolving the matter.

He listed those invited to include the ministers of Education and Labour, the Head of Service and the Wages Commission.

The minister assured that the Federal Government would soon resolve the ongoing strike, saying it was deploying all means to reach an agreement with the unions.

He said: “We owe this country a great duty. Nobody will be sitting down happily to see our children staying at home.”

On the issue of the white paper on visitation panels to polytechnics, Wike assured that it would soon be released.

The Chairman of the Committee, Rep. Aminu Suleiman (APC-Kano) appealed to the two unions and the government for amicable solution to the issues.

Mr Chibuzo Asumagha, ASUP President expressed satisfaction with the minister’s assurance, saying that his union never rejected the instalment payment.

President of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), Abdulwahid Omar cautioned the commission on its interference.

“The wages and salaries commission should not come in at this time to stall the arrangement between government and the two unions,” he said.

Couple beat 12-year-old boy to death for playing on Children’s Day

A young boy in Lagos is said to have lost his life yesterday after his guardians beat him up for delaying in carrying out his chores.

12-year-old Onyedikachi Mbanozo was allegedly beaten to death by Paul Obiefule and his wife in the Agege area of the state around 2pm.

The boy was reportedly assigned some chores but instead of doing them, he went out to play with his peers.

This incurred the wrath of the Obiefule couple who went on to beat him to death. The police were informed of the incident by an anonymous source who called them.

The Nation reports:

It was gathered that the Obiefules were always beating the boy and neighbours had always warned them of its implications.

The Nation learnt that Mbanozo was asked to carry out some domestic duties by his guardians, but he allegedly went to play with his peers on Children’s Day.

When his guardians saw him playing, they started beating him until he died, a source said.

Police spokesperson Ngozi Braide, a Deputy Superintendent (DSP), confirmed the incident.

She said: “The DPO, while on patrol with his men, received an anonymous call that a man and his wife had beaten a boy living with them to death.

“On receipt of the information, police patrol vehicles moved to the scene and brought the suspects and the deceased to the station for detailed investigations. The case is under investigation at the Pen Cinema Division.”

An 11-year-old boy at New Takoradi Lower Town has had his face and parts of the body burnt with an electric iron allegedly by his own biological mother, for purportedly stealing GH¢5.00 belonging to the little boy’s friend.

Daily Guide leant that the boy is currently receiving treatment at the Effia-Nkwanta Regional Hospital in Sekondi, Western Region, for the multiple burns he sustained.

Speaking to journalists, Emmanuel Edwin Adogo, Assemblyman for Lower New Takoradi, disclosed that the little boy, Bernard Asafua, confessed to stealing the money belonging to his classmate after initially denying committing the offence.

I Can Not Give Your Letter To Boko Haram, First Lady Tells Nigerian Children

Yesterday while celebrating the 2014 children’s Day at the Banquet Hall of the Presidential Villa, in Abuja, the first lady, Mrs Patience Jonathan advised children and Nigerians to stop abusing her husband because God made him the head of state.

Addressing the children further and quoting the scriptures, she said it is non-biblical to abuse ones parents and leaders of a nation.

“The Almighty God commands us to pray for our leaders. We therefore need to pray for the development of our country and the President. Remember that a child that abuses his father and mother is disobeying God’s commandment because the Bible says in Exodus 20:12 that you should honour your father and mother so that you may live long in the land that the Lord your God has given you.”

They also presented letters to her to give the president and the Boko Haram sect, but the first lady responded and said she will give their letter to the president, but can’t give Boko Haram sect because she does not know who they are. Her words;

“Let me thank the children that gave me a letter to give Boko Haram. Well, I have received your letter, but I am not the one to give it to Boko Haram because I don’t know Boko Haram and I have never seen Boko Haram. But I will give it to the NSS or the Chief of Defence Staff who will submit your letter accordingly.

“To my children, thank you for your letter. Thank you for your deliberation. I have received what you gave to me. I will make sure I pass it to the President because it is addressed to him and the other one is addressed to Boko Haram. That is why the two are different,” she said.

Teacher who defiled minor says one of them made passes at him

A 38 year old nursery school teacher who was arrested yesterday for defiling three minors says he's not to blame so much because one of the minors made passes at him. Olayinka Oluwadare Folarin, (pictured above) took the young girls to the school toilet where he sexually molested them. Speaking during his interrogation yesterday, the paedoaphile said a little girl was the first to make a pass at him

"One of them made advances at me. You know how children play with you in a funny way. This thing is beyond me.” he said
Mr Folarin, who has been arrested before for molesting children, said he believes he's under some demonic attack that pushes him to commit the act and so shouldn't be judged
"I have been doing this for a long time. I feel terribly bad each time I did it but I could not stop it. Why don’t you find a way of helping me. Is this meant to expose me? Some people should just think and reason with me. The person who has not sinned before should cast the first stone. If God did not forsake some people, I know he would not forsake me. I am a changed person now.” Continue...On how he carried out his evil act, Folarin said he would invite the little girls into the toilet, place them on the wash hand basin, lubricate their vagina with his hair cream, fondle them but says he never penetrated them with his manhood, a claim the police is refuting because medical examination on the little girls show their hymen was not intact.

"I never penetrated them. I only used my manhood to rub their private parts. Yes, I used my hair cream to lubricate my organ to stimulate myself.”.Oyo state Police Public Relations Officer, SP Olabisi Okuwobi‑Ilobanafor while confirming the incident said:

“The suspect had engaged in multiple defilement and all the victims said the same thing that he always abused them twice a week since last year. The third girl was lured by the suspect to cover his illicit affairs. The third girl he abused saw a note he wrote to one of the two girls when she was sweeping the floor and asked what was happening. The teacher then collected the paper; for fear of being exposed, he recruited her into the group" she saidDue to the seriousness of his crime, Folarin would be transferred to the state Police headquarters where further investigations would be carried out.

Why Nigeria girls love clit sucking

18+ only

Many babes in Nigeria now like to be sucked during s.ex. And that is authoritative. Unlike years ago when sucking was seen as a dirty habit, these days it is the wish of many girl for her se,xual partner to part her legs and lick or suck her until she reaches or.gasm.

This same habit has been given several names like Oral S.ex. It is also known as Cun.nilingus, mu.ff diving, cl.it licking, going down, beaver licking and sucking (to employ the general parlance).

Oral se.x for women involves the stimulation of the cli.toris and vu.lva with the lips and tongue.

For many women, it is the ultimate se.xual experience, preferable to int.ercourse nowadays. For another group of women who find it difficult to reach or.gasm or ‘come’ easily during s,ex, they depend on their partner sucking them to derive the ultimate and intense pleasure of s.ex.

Unlike what obtained several years back when any attempt to “ s.uck” a woman was perceived as ‘dirty’ or unreligious, nowadays more and more women are fast becoming addicts of sucking their private parts as a ‘compulsory aspect’ of foreplay before getting down to the real business of love making.

Interestingly, more and more women are also discreet and keep the craze of sucking away from their friends and those they don’t trust. Though a lot of the big babes and celeb women now share the experiences of being sucked among themselves.

This has also instigated others who have equally come out of their shells to experiment the act of being sucked.

These days a lot of women also expect their partners to be knowledgeable about their body system. Hence they don’t want their partner to get down and start love making. They like to be aroused by the way of clit, oral or va,ginal stimulation.

Also a lot of women are increasingly frowning at men fin.gering them. The reason for this might not be unconnected with hygiene reasons.

Another reason women these days appreciate to be sucked is the urge to feel the action at their G-S.pot and Cli.toris. These 2 erogenous zones as far as a woman’s se.xual pleasures are concerned may be conquered territories, but some men don’t really have a clue about the difference between the 2.

Basically, the first thing you need to know is that the essence of both the cli.toris and the G-s.pot is to provide se.xual pleasures to a woman.

A man’s tongue in their view would do better justice than the regular and in some cases energetic ban.ging from their male partner.

The cli/toris is a small erec.tile organ located at the anterior part of the va/gina.

S.ex experts say it is the only human body whose sole function is to provide women with se.xual pleasure.

It’s pretty much the equivalent of the p.enis and in simple terms, it is that small pleasure button which is located on top of her va.gina opening-the one which can be stimulated to bring her to new se.xual heights.

On the other hand, the G-s.pot is physically similar to the male pro.state. This body part is named after Dr. Ernst Grafenberg, a German doctor who published a study in the 1950s which is entitled “The Role of Ure.thra in the Female Or.gasm”

With the increasing dislike for bare fingers, women prefer their male partner to use their tongue to locate the G-s.pot. Using the tongue to feel the tissue which is rougher than the rest of the vag.ina wall this brings a woman to mind-blowing multiple or.gasms which in most cases may not be achieved for years with the pe.nis.

For men who suffer from prematu.re ej.aculation, oral se.x is a very good way to help her get se,xual pleasure before you enter her-especially if the duration of inter.course is likely to be short due to your premature ejac.ulation.

Essentially for men who are fond of sucking, there are basic things that must not be done;

• Never bite a woman’s vag.ina-ever

• Use your tongue and fingers to maximize stimulation

• Always have an exit strategy in case you panic down there

Many women prefer cl.it licking to inter.course, and for those who require a large amount of clitoral stimulation, it is the easiest way to or.gasm.

Besides, lots of women expect it these days and men who perform great cunn.ilingus are always appreciated and considered fabulous lovers.

Incredible: There is no Boko Haram. US and Israel Planned it to steal Nigerian Resources- Muslim cleric

Islamic Scholar, Sheikh Ibraheem Zakzaky says the US and Israel arranged the Chibok abduction as a launch pad for an invasion of Nigeria with the aim of stealing her resources

Sheikh Ibraheem Zakzaky says the US, Israel plotted the Chibok abduction so they can invade Nigeria and steal resources

US, Israel and other Western powers have been accused of plotting the abduction of nearly 300 girls in Chibok, Borno state, as an excuse to invade and steal from Nigeria.

Sheikh Ibraheem Zakzaky, the leader of the Islamic Movement in Nigeria, made the accusation while speaking speaking at the annual Martyrs’ Day commemoration held at the Baqiyyatullah Hussainiyyah, Zaria on Saturday.

Zakzaky, said the Boko Haram sect was a myth and the girls' abduction a set-up to pave way for U.S. and Israeli military presence in Nigeria.

“Let no one be fooled, there is nothing like Boko Haram! It is a covert operation to balkanize Nigeria and steals its resources in the name of search of Boko Haram insurgents. If you can fool others, we cannot be fooled,” Zakzaky said.

According to the controversial cleric, the ultimate aim is to 'steal Nigeria's abundant resources.

“They realized there are gold deposits in Zamfara and Zaria - Birnin Gwari axis; gold and platinum in Sokoto and Borno.

"They did it in Iraq, as they went in search of weapons of mass destruction (WMDs), which they never found but plunged the country into chaos.

"The same thing was experimented in Afghanistan before our eyes,” the cleric said.

He also alleged that the Nigerian military is working together with the leader of the dreaded Boko Haram sect, Abubakar Shekau.

“Shekau is presently being kept safe in a secret military camp,” he said.

Do you think there is any truth in what he is saying.

Being A Single Mom Is Sweet, Not That I’m Encouraging Other Women- Waje

Waje in a new interview with NETng has said being a single mom is sweet. She says though some people think she is trying to encourage younger ones, but she is only stating a fact, her own personal experience. She also spoke about finding a companion one day.

You have always said you are single, why is that?

I don`t know why, but I just feel God has a way of doing things. I have so much on my hands now, let that matter rest now, let me not go and marry now before my husband will say he wants pounded yam, cooked by his wife, not by a maid. Then I will leave everything I am doing and I will be pounding yam. But when somebody who understand my kind of person and my job comes along, then it will be easier for me. After all the troubles of the day, the traffic, somebody getting you angry, there should be that one person who can calm you. Everybody would love to have somebody as a companion, so do I.

The only Nigerian journalist with access to Boko Haram flown home to negotiate with group

Nigerian journalist, Ahmad Salkida, who previously worked for Daily Trust and Premium Times and reported extensively on Boko Haram, fled Nigeria to Dubai 2 years ago after being accused of being a Boko Haram sympathizer. He said he fled after 'his life and that of his family became endangered' after security agencies began to mistake his in-depth reporting on the terrorist group as evidence of his closeness to them. He went underground for several weeks before finally fleeing Nigeria. Salkida was perhaps the only Nigerian journalist/civilian to have access to Boko Haram, and he said at the time that he'd turned down Boko Haram's many requests for him to publish exclusive interviews and materials for them.

Anyway according to new reports, the Nigerian government flew him back home a few weeks ago to negotiate with Boko Haram on their behalf, since he's the only civilian who has allegedly seen Boko Haram leader Abubakar Shekau and come out alive. He reportedly came back home after the Nigerian government assured him that he will not be arrested. (See his tweets). Continue...

Suarez progressing well after surgery

Uruguay striker Luis Suarez is progressing "very well" after undergoing keyhole surgery on his left knee although his chances of playing at the World Cup are still in the balance, the team doctor said on Monday.

"It's only been a few days (since the operation) but we can say that progress is very good," Alberto Pan told a news conference at the team's training camp.

"It would be adventurous to set a timeline. We have nearly three weeks ahead of us."

"We can't rule out that he will be ready for intense activity in this period, but we can't be certain, either," he added. "You can have adverse reactions and we will not know about this until he undergoes more intense activity."

Pan praised Suarez's attitude. "I've never heard a negative expression from him, he's always been positive," he said.

Suarez, who helped Uruguay to fourth place at the World Cup in South Africa four years ago, underwent surgery on Thursday and is expected to need 15 to 20 days to recover

The 27-year-old has little room for manoeuvre before Uruguay play their first match in Group D, against Costa Rica in Fortaleza on June 14.

The two-time champions also face England and Italy in the first round.

Suarez, top scorer in the English Premier League last season with 31 goals for Liverpool, is expected to miss Uruguay's warm-up matches in Montevideo against Northern Ireland on May 30 and Slovenia on June 4.

Uruguay said that Suarez sustained a knock in the club's final match of the season and felt intense pain during a training session last week.
