A second half brace from Nsofor ensured the Yellow-Blues escaped relegation in the Italian Serie A as three other Nigerians found the back of the net over the weekend
ENGLAND
Sone Aluko came on as a second half substitute in Hull City’s 3-2 defeat to Arsenal in the English FA Cup final played on Saturday evening. The Nigerian replaced Stephen Quinn in the 75th minute of the encounter and was a torn in the flesh of the Gunners.
Aluko played 24 times this season for the Tigers with three goals to his name.
FRANCE
Vincent Enyeama was on for 90 minutes as OSC Lille secured a 4-1 victory at Lorient to secure a place in next season’s Uefa Champions League qualifying rounds. A brace from Salomon Kalou ensured Les Douges secured a win after Jeremie Aliadiere had put the hosts ahead in the first half.

Sunday Mba was not on parade as CA Bastia lost 2-0 at home to RC Lens in the French Ligue 2 on Friday. A first half brace from Adamo Coulibaly silenced Les Noirs that got relegated to the third tier of the French league.
Elderson Echiejile featured for Monaco in their 1-1 draw against Bordeaux at the Stade Louis II. A second half equaliser from Lucas Ocampos ensured Claudio Ranieri’s men set a new club record points haul for a single Ligue one season.
ITALY
Obinna Nsofor was the hero as Chievo came from a goal down to stun Inter Milan 2-1 in the Italian topflight game played at the Stadio Marc'Antonio Bentegodi on Sunday night.
Former Chievo man Marco Andreolli sent Inter in ahead at the break, despite the hosts enjoying the better of the first half and striking the woodwork twice.
In the 72nd minute, the Nigerian was brought in place of Dario Dainelli and did not disappoint as he scored two great goals to ensure his side avoided relegation to Serie B. Nsofor has played eight times in the Italian topflight this season with two goals.
SPAIN
Ikechukwu Uche was on target for Villarreal on Sunday afternoon as his club secured a 2-1 away win against Real Sociedad at the Estadio Municipal de Anoeta.
A 69th minute goal from the Nigerian put the Yellow Submarine sealed win for Villarreal after he had set up Giovani dos Santos in the 26th for the opener in the last game of the Spanish La Liga. Uche’s tally place him in 13th place on the Liga goal scorers chart and tied with Sevilla’s Carlos Bacca and Celta Vigo’s Nolito on 14 goals.
Ramon Azeez featured for 85 minutes in Almeria’s 0-0 home draw against Athletico Bilbao. The result ensured they secured their La Liga status. He replaced Francisco Manuel Velez in the fifth minute of the encounter.
Azeez who made Nigeria’s 30-man World Cup provisional squad list was cautioned in the 74th minute following a rough tackle on Iker Muniain. The Nigerian was on target last week in Almeria’s 3-2 home win against Real Betis.
Odion Ighalo played the last nine minutes of Granada’s 1-0 away victory against Real Valladolid on Sunday. The former Nigeria U21 skipper replaced Youssef El Arabi in the 81st minute of the encounter. He has played 16 times in the La Liga this season with two goals to his credit.
Nosa Igiebor returned from injury to play in Real Betis 2-1 defeat at Osasuna on Sunday. The Nigeria who has been out for over six weeks for the relegated side came on as a 66th minute for Cedric Mabwati.
UKRAINE
Brown Ideye was on target for Dynamo Kiev in their 3-1 defeat of Zorya in the Ukrainian Premier League on Sunday. Ideye got the curtain raiser in the 69th minute before Andriy Yarmolenko and Denis Garmash completing the rout in the 71st and 73rd minute respectively. The strike was his fourth in 16 league appearances this season.
USSIA
TURKEY
John Utaka was on for the entire duration but could not stop Sivasspor from losing 1-0 at Karabuekspor in the Turkish Super League played on Sunday evening.
Ilhan Parlak’s penalty in the 50th minute ensured the visitors returned home empty-handed. The game was the 19th start for the former RC Lens of France player start in the Turkish topflight.
Emmanuel Emenike was not dressed in Fenerbahce’s 2-0 win at Kayserispor on Saturday night. Emenike has made 25 starts this season with 12 goals to his credit.

Obafemi Martins got Seattle Sounders' winner in their 1-0 home win versus San Jose Earthquakes in the Major League Soccer game played on Sunday. The 'Weapon of Mass Destruction’s strike in eight minute ensured his team gathered all three points. Obagoal has scored thrice in seven games in the American league this season.
